Death Certificates of persons who died in South Africa can be obtained by formal application. The requirements are as follow:

• A duly completed Form BI-132, Application for Death Certificate, to be completed in black ink and signed by applicant
   

• An administrative fee of $8.00 and mailing fee of $3.00 in money order or certified check payable to the South African representative office where your location falls under. 
   

• Death Certificates are issued in South Africa and requires a processing period of 6 months.
