This category applies to persons who are engaged to South African citizens or permanent residents. These persons can be divided into groups. Thos who are considered to be acceptable in their own right and those whose application may be considered by the committee of the Immigrant Selection Board on submission of a marriage certificate. Applicants on this category must apply and await for the outcome of their application abroad. In cases wherein the applicant has to go to South Africa for purposes of getting married and to await for the outcome of his/her application in South Africa, he/she must apply for a visitor's visa through this office at least forty five (45) days prior to his/her desired departure for South Africa. The application has to be referred to Head Office for approval and requires a waiting period of 4 weeks. He/she will then be required to pay a refundable repatriation deposit of US$2,000.00 Those who does not have the intention to join fiancé in South Africa and will wait for the outcome of their application abroad will be required to pay a refundable immigration fee of US$1,790.00. Refunds can be applied through this office or the nearest Department of Home Affairs in South Africa upon presentation of a marriage certificate and the original receipt. Employment is prohibited in South Africa until the application for permanent residence is finalized. Important All documents must be submitted in originals or notarized copies. Documents which are not in English must be accompanied by certified translations into English. All fees must be paid in certified bank check payable to the South African Consulate General, New York. A personal/telephonic interview is required towards the final stage of the application provided that all the requirements have been duly complied with by the applicant. Requirements Applicant:
